Lucent Takamiya, a renowned hot spring resort, is located in the center of Zao Onsen and provides convenient access to nearby sightseeing spots. The Zao Chuo Ropeway is located directly in front of the hotel, and the Nakamori ski slope is only a one-minute walk away.
The location provides excellent access for summer trekking and winter skiing.

All baths in the facility use 100% free-flowing water from the natural hot spring source.
Zao Onsen’s strongly acidic sulfur spring is known for benefits related to skin conditions, digestive disorders, eye ailments, and wounds, and is often called “the beauty-enhancing spring” for its ability to brighten and smooth the skin and “the spring that helps children grow strong.”
Guests can enjoy a full bathing experience in a variety of styles, including a stone bath, an open-air cypress bath, and private baths.

Yamagata is home to many hot springs with long histories, and Zao stands out with a tradition spanning 1,900 years. Zao Onsen is regarded as one of the most historic hot springs not only in Yamagata Prefecture but in the entire Tohoku region.
The hot spring at Lucent Takamiya contains the highest level of acidity among the already well-known acidic waters of Zao Onsen, creating an effect often described as a “natural beauty essence” for the skin. Guests are invited to enjoy the smooth, refined feel that follows each bath.

Open-Air Bath: Hagakure-no-Yu

The open-air bath showcases the natural character of Lucent Takamiya. Guests can unwind in free-flowing spring water while enjoying sunlight through the trees and the highland breeze of Zao.

Indoor Bath: Komorebi-no-Yu

A stone-built indoor bath that evokes the feeling of soaking in a secluded hot spring. The milky-white water and the natural texture of the stones create a classic hot spring atmosphere that allows guests to fully enjoy the bathing experience.

Indoor Bath: Hinoki-no-Yu

A heated bath is also available. After enjoying the hot spring, guests can refresh themselves with a finishing rinse, complemented by the relaxing fragrance of hinoki cypress.

Dry Sauna

In addition to the baths, a dry sauna is fully equipped for guest use. Sweating in the sauna provides both health benefits and a gentle detoxifying effect.

Yamagata Beef Hot Pot + Kamado Buffet

The main dish is Lucent Takamiya’s original “Yamagata Beef Hot Pot.”
A luxurious preparation that allows guests to enjoy high-quality “Yamagata beef” in both yakiniku and sukiyaki styles.
In addition, a kamado-style buffet with approximately twenty dishes is available, including “Yamagata specialties such as imoni,” “creative dishes made with local Yamagata ingredients,” “seasonal regional hot pots,” and “premium Yamagata-grown brand rice.”
Kirameki Kaiseki

“Kirameki Kaiseki” is the highest-grade dinner offered at the property, with every element of the meal elevated in quality! Guests are invited to enjoy the finest ingredients that Yamagata, a true treasure house of cuisine, has to offer, prepared with exceptional skill by the head chef.
Kome-no-Musume Pork Shabu-Shabu

The main dish features shabu-shabu made with “Yamagata-bred Kome-no-Kobuta Pork (pork raised on feed rice in Yamagata prefecture),” a local pork that earned first place in Japan at a national pork quality competition.
The tender, springy texture can be fully enjoyed through a simple shabu-shabu preparation that highlights the meat’s natural flavor.
